Invest Super in Property

Many people are already aware of the benefits of gearing to purchase property. However, it may come as a surprise to learn that you can adopt similar strategies with your superannuation monies.

The opportunity lies in being able to combine the superannuation benefits of up to four family members (e.g. parents, siblings, children etc.) via a Family Super Fund (AKA Self–Managed Super Fund) to access investment strategies that are both low cost and tax effective – and which are likely to extend beyond traditional shares and managed funds. Thanks to legislative change in late 2010, this can also involve the use of borrowed funds.

Our external panel of superannuation–specialist Lenders has demonstrated an ability to finance up to 80% of the property purchase. Thus, the total of your Family Super Fund assets could be as low as $120k – i.e. $30k per family member if involving four Members – and you could potentially acquire an investment property that is worth over $400,000!
